Women are a growing demographic in agriculture and small business and as such they are in need of resources, tools, and education that will help them be successful in their field of choice.  This workshop will educate and empower women to return to their farm, business, community, and family with new confidence, ideas and tools to help them better manage finances, labor, communication, and stress. Through the Real Colors Personality Instrument, the workshop will also provide insights into your own personality and how to more effectively communicate with others. 

 

While there is NO registration fee, space is limited and everyone must pre-register to reserve your seat, a goody bag and lunch.

9:15 – Opening Session

            Positive Practices in Labor Management from
            Communication to Record Keeping

            Labor management can be an intimidating topic. This session will
            explain some of the relevant labor laws and their corresponding
            record-keeping requirements. Tools and tips for effective
            communication with employees, family and nonfamily, will also be
            discussed.
           
10:15 – Break

10:30 - General Session

            Funding Opportunities Panel

            Funding is essential for any operation. This panel will provide
            information on funding opportunities including federal programs and
            private loans. Information and insight on how you can apply for
            these programs and loans also will be provided. Don’t miss this
            panel and the opportunity to have your funding questions answered
            by experts from the industry.

11:30 - Lunch

            Life, Liability, and Farm: Understanding Your Insurance

            Are you over insured? Are you underinsured? Join us as we begin to
            better understand your farm insurance needs.

12:30 - 1:30 – Sharing Their Story

            Panel Discussion of Small Business Owners

            This panel will highlight three Tennessee women and their stories of
            how they got started. Panel members will talk about the challenges
            they faced and how they continue to navigate and overcome
            obstacles. Opportunities for questions and answers will be provided.

1:30 - Break

1:45 - General Session

            Real Colors® Personality Instrument

            During this fun and interactive session, you will gain a better
            understanding of human behavior by completing the Real Colors®
            Personality Instrument. This session will provide insight into your
            personality as well as the personality of those you work and live
            with.
